Tardy’s Bedroom

Where the arrival actually happens — never on screen.

The story of Tardy’s Bedroom

Inside the mushroom’s stalk, up where the walls curve in warm honey timber, is the room the entire world exists to arrive at. A small wooden bed with a soft teal blanket. A bedside table with one drawer and a warm little lamp — the only light on. Wooden toys on the shelf: stacking rings, a small car, a duck. And one round window with a pale cross frame, looking out on the deep violet night — and in that window, most nights, the Crescent Moon himself, sleepy-faced, keeping his gentle watch. That is the room’s quiet magic: the one who watches over all of Sleepland can see this bed, and the child in this bed can see him. Springs to waterfall, waterfall to forest, forest to Moss Land, Moss Land to the front door, the front door to here. Every route in every story in this whole world ends the same way: a teal blanket, a warm lamp, and the moon in the window.
