A first name and an age

World of Tardy is operated by Fractional Quest Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales under number 17322105, at 71–75 Shelton Street, London WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom. For anything on this page, write to hello@worldoftardy.com and a person will read it.

We are the data controller for the information described here — which means we are the ones responsible for it, and the ones you hold to account.

For each child profile a parent creates, we store: a first name (or whatever name you chose to type — it does not have to be their real one), an age band rather than a date of birth, the character they picked as their picture, and the last stop on the route they reached, so a story can carry on where it left off.

That is the complete list. It exists so the site can greet a child by name and pick up where they were, and for nothing else.

No child ever gets a login here, so there is no child account, no child password and no child email address anywhere in our systems. We do not ask for or store a child’s surname, date of birth, address, school, photograph, voice, or location. We do not build a behavioural profile of a child, and we do not track what any child watches in order to infer anything about them.

We also do not run third-party analytics on any child-facing screen — no Google Analytics, no advertising pixels, no session recording, no tag manager.

You are the only person who can sign in. To let you do that we hold your email address and the sign-in record that proves it is you — handled by our authentication provider, so we never see or store a password ourselves. We also keep the settings you have chosen, such as whether autoplay is armed.

A cookie is a small file a site leaves on your device so it can remember something. Every cookie this site sets is first-party and necessary for something you asked it to do. Here is each one, by name:

• Your sign-in session — set by our authentication provider so you stay signed in between pages. Without it you would be signed out on every click.
• wot_children — the child profiles you created: the names, age bands and pictures described above.
• wot_active_child — which of those profiles is the one listening tonight.
• wot_settings — the preferences you set yourself, such as whether autoplay is armed.

One thing that is not a cookie but is still stored on your device: when you close the welcome from The Lair Bear, your browser remembers that you closed it, so it does not greet you again every visit. That is the whole of it — a note that says you have already been welcomed.

There is no advertising cookie, no analytics cookie and no third-party cookie of any kind. Under the UK rules, storage that is strictly necessary for a service you have asked for does not require consent — so rather than ask you to accept tracking that does not exist, we tell you plainly what each one is for. You can clear them at any time in your browser; you will simply be signed out and your profiles will be gone.

Everything a child can see here is treated as Made for Kids, which is a standard with teeth rather than a label. It rules out behavioural advertising, personalised recommendation based on watch history, comments, and third-party analytics on child-facing screens — permanently, not until it becomes commercially inconvenient.

Where the site does adapt to a child, it does so from something you told us on purpose — the age band you picked — and never from something we inferred by watching. There is a real difference between a preference you declared and a profile we built, and we only do the first.

Under UK data protection law we rely on contract for the things the site cannot work without — your sign-in, and the child profiles you created so that the service can do the thing you asked it to do. We rely on your consent for anything optional, and you can withdraw it by deleting the profile or the account.

We are small, so some of the plumbing belongs to other people. Our site is hosted by Vercel, and our database and sign-in are run on Neon. They process data on our instructions only, under contract, and they are not permitted to use it for their own purposes. When we begin serving films from storage, that provider will be named here before the first film plays.

We do not sell personal data, and we never will. There is no advertising network, data broker or analytics company in this list because there is none in the product.

Child profiles last as long as you keep them. Delete a profile and its name, age band, picture and progress go with it. Close your account and everything attached to it goes — yours and your children’s — and we do not keep a shadow copy for later.

You can ask us for a copy of what we hold, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, ask us to stop, or ask for it in a portable form. Because your children’s information sits under your account, you exercise those rights for them as well. Write to hello@worldoftardy.com and we will answer within one month, which is the limit the law sets us.

If we get it wrong, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, the UK regulator, at ico.org.uk. We would rather you told us first, but it is your right either way.

If we change what we collect, this page changes first and the date below changes with it. If a change means we would hold something new about a child, we will tell account holders directly rather than quietly editing a page and hoping nobody reads it.
