The story of Mike InAction Smythzzz
Nobody taught Mike InAction Smythzzz to do nothing. That is the whole point of him: doing nothing cannot be taught, only demonstrated, and Mike has been demonstrating it, masterfully, for as long as anyone can remember.
His default state is at rest — lying on the grass, hands behind his head, watching whatever the sky is doing — and any picture of him hurrying is a picture of somebody else. His name says it all, which is lucky, because he is unlikely to.
In a world full of methods — the hum, the purr, the body scan, the long boring story — Mike is the quiet reminder underneath all of them: that rest is not a technique you perform, it is a thing you stop performing everything else for. The zzz’s at the end of his name were not given to him.
He earned them, slowly, by doing absolutely nothing at all.
