The story of Nidra
Nidra teaches the one posture nobody else in this world teaches: flat on your back, arms and legs spread soft, perfectly still, and just barely awake. It is called yoga nidra — yogic sleep — and it is a real practice, taught exactly this way to grown-ups all over the world; her name is simply the Sanskrit word for sleep. Where the others hum you down or purr you down or bore you down, Nidra travels you down: slowly through the body, toe to crown, one quiet part at a time, in a voice that is calm and level and never, ever hurries. She carries one thing — a soft folded blanket, which she spreads — because her practice requires being covered and still, and because a moss blanket pulled close under the Zzzzz Tree is one of the oldest comforts in these books. The prop and the technique are the same object. That is why she never needs a second one.

Every character is drawn once, properly, on a sheet — the same way the books were made. This is Nidra’s.
