The story of Silver
Silver is the youngest tree in the Sleepy Forest, and she has not yet worked out that you cannot help someone fall asleep by asking whether they are asleep yet. She is the only one in the whole world who starts the night wide awake on purpose — eyes open, leaning ever so slightly forward, absolutely delighted to be involved. ARE YOU ASLEEP YET? No, Silver. Partly because you asked. But here is the thing the older trees know and never tell her: the forest needs her exactly as she is. A descent needs something to descend from, and Silver is the high note — the bright, papery, over-keen top of the ladder that makes every rung below feel deeper. She travels further than anyone each night. The lean straightens first, then the fine twigs droop, and her lids fall last of all, slowly, reluctantly, still hoping somebody will need her.

Every character is drawn once, properly, on a sheet — the same way the books were made. This is Silver’s.
