The Sleepy Forest

Where the trees close their eyes one branch at a time. It goes to sleep when every secret eye closes, one after another.

The story of The Sleepy Forest

The Sleepy Forest grew up around one tree. In among all the tall blue-green canopies stands a single tree covered in bright pink blossom — the only pink thing in the whole forest — and if a child ever points and says that is the Sleepy Forest, the blossom tree is why. A pale sandy path winds between the trunks, and beside the path runs the stream: the same water that left the Sleepy Waterfall, so you can drift here without ever quite noticing you travelled. The air between the far trees is a soft violet haze, small pale-blue mushrooms glow along the mossy banks, and gold fireflies drift about between the trunks. And deep in, further and further along the path, at the forest’s edge, stands the oldest sleeper of all — the Zzzzz Tree, asleep for thirty years and counting, which is the kind of thing that happens to a forest with a name like this. Half the cast lives here. All of them sleep well.
